We are going the 1st week of April with our 1 year old. We planned to stay in POR-R (Port Orleans - Riverside), but are now thinking we should get a villa or suite as she goes to bed at 7 and we don't want to wake her. What options/hotels are possible?

    Hi Brandi,

I personally love Port Orleans Riverside but I see your point with a sleeping 1 year old!

For suites and villas inside the park, you will be looking at the Deluxe Resorts.  Though these are more expensive than Port Orleans, they do allow you to travel to the parks without always having to get on the bus.  After price, location of the hotel is important because you will be traveling with a stroller and if you can reduce travel on the bus, your life will be easier.

For example, I stayed at the Boardwalk when I had my princesses in the stroller.  One way to get to EPCOT and DHS is via the boat which I could push my stroller with princesses straight onto boat without collapsing the stroller.  The same is true at the monorail hotels in which you could push your child onto the monorail in the stroller.

If the price of a suite is going to use up too much of your vacation budget, you could go for a shorter time, rent points from a Disney Vacation Club owner who can not use them (see Mousesavers.com for tips on this or google renting Disney Vacation Club points) or stay off property .

On a final note, you can stay at the Disney All-Star Music which now has 192 suites.  I did not recommend this only because if I were traveling with an infant I personally would pay not to have to move my sleeping baby to collapse a stroller to get on a bus.

I hope this helps and remember to buy the mouse ears!
