We'd like to bring a cooler into the parks and probably carry a large backback also. Where do these things go when I want to get on a ride? Thanks!

That's a great question, Amy! We always bring a backpack to the parks to store those "must have" essentials in. I called Disney directly to make sure I was giving you accurate information regarding your cooler. Disney does allow guests to bring small coolers into the parks. They do not allow "full size" coolers or coolers that can be pushed or pulled into the theme parks. The cast member gave me specific dimensions for the "small size" coolers that are allowed...24 inches in length, 15 inches in width, and 18 inches in height. I just wanted you to have this information to prevent any disappointment. You did not specify if you would be using a stroller during your stay. If you will be using a stroller, then I would suggest storing your cooler in the underneath storage compartment while riding an attraction. The cast member did say that you would be allowed to take both items onto the attraction. My husband usually puts our backpack either in his lap or under his legs on Disney attractions. There are designated areas for parking strollers while riding attractions, but I would not feel comfortable leaving loose items on the ground there as these areas are not monitored. However, I have always found that our items were very safe and sound in our stroller when we returned after riding an attraction. We do keep valuables such as our camera on us at all times, just for peace of mind. I hope this information helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions that I can assist you with! Best wishes for a Magical Walt Disney World Vacation!
