Hello, Betty!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, old friend! What an honor to help you once again!
As a fellow glasses user, I know your pain. Every attraction that requires more glasses or shakes us too much requires at least a little bit of planning, so congratulations on doing the research!
There are some differences between the 3D effects used on
Mickey's PhilharMagic and
Toy Story Mania! that might help us find a way for you to enjoy this attraction. The 3D effects applied to Mickey's PhilharMagic are mostly designed to make things pop out of the screen, playing with your space and distance perception. That could have been the source of your discomfort.
Toy Story Mania!'s 3D effects, on the other hand, are used to add depth to the screen and give focus to the moving targets. I have already tried looking at the screens without the 3D glasses, and it made me put them back on because of the lack of focus. The glasses play a vital role to help you aim at the correct targets, so riding it without the glasses would probably result in a bad experience.
But because the purposes of the 3D effects on those attractions are so different, I'd suggest giving Toy Story Mania! a go. If you still feel dizzy, my suggestion is to remove the glasses immediately and focus on your hands.
It worked wonderfully for me the first time I experienced
Avatar - Flight of Passage.
I hope this answer encourages you to enjoy this attraction, Betty. It's one of my top three favorites at the Walt Disney World Resort!
As more questions pop up before your September trip, please, stop by. We will always be here to share advice!
May the magic be always with you,
Julie
