We have been to WDW many times. We are planning our first trip to Disneyland (staying at DVC Grand Cal). We will have 2 1/2 days to spend at DL before heading to Aulani. How can we get the most out of DL? What restaurants for me, husband and 13 YO son?

    Hi Mary!

I just visited the Disneyland Resort last spring, so I was excited to see your question! I do have a few ideas to make your trip extra magical. First, I would recommend the Park Hopper Ticket. At the Disneyland Resort, the two theme parks are directly across a plaza from one another, and we found it enjoyable to wander back and forth between the parks.

I would make sure not to miss some of the attractions that are different or not available at Walt Disney World Resort. At Disney’s California Adventure, you must visit Cars Land! For the best chance to get on Radiator Springs Racers, arrive early. FASTPASS is available for this attraction. Visit at sunset to see the street’s neon light up while you “Sh-Boom Sh-Boom” to a familiar tune. For a fun snack, visit the Cozy Cone, because everything tastes better in a cone!

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Wine Country Trattoria with the World of Color Dining Package. This secured us reserved seating for the World of Color nighttime spectacular, which should not be missed! FASTPASS is also available for World of Color.

At Disneyland, Indiana Jones Adventure is a must-do. Fans of the famous archeologist and ride enthusiasts will both appreciate this attraction. Make time to ride the famous Matterhorn Bobsleds for a quick trip through the Swiss Alps. If your son is anything like mine, he might be a Pirates of the Caribbean fan. The Disneyland version is, in my humble opinion, even better than it’s counterpart in Florida. Dining at the Blue Bayou Restaurant located inside the attraction, is a famous and popular location. Dining can be reserved up to 60 days in advance at Disneyland. If you are looking for a quick bite, my favorite at Disneyland was a Jolly Holiday Salad and Matterhorn Macaroon from the Jolly Holiday Bakery.

I hope these ideas help you with your planning, and I wish you a magical vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth!
