We're going to WDW for the 1st time and will be there in Sept We are staying at Grand Hyatt Orlando and are trying to determine if we should rent a car, use taxi or use the monorail. We want to make the most of our time w/out spending a fortune.

Hi Jessica, I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress quite a few times now and I am sure you will be happy staying there. You do have the option of their courtesy shuttle, but they are not very frequent. They have shuttles that will take you to only the Ticket and Transportation Center by Magic Kingdom and from there you will have to use Disney's courtesy transportation (monorail, busses and boats) to get around to the other parks. Magic Kingdom will be easily accessible as is Epcot from the TTC, but Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will be more of a challenge. The Resort shuttle will also only take you there at various times during the morning and the earliest pick up bus back to the resort is at 6:00pm so unless you grab a taxi or limo service, there is no way to get back to the Hyatt earlier in the day for a rest or swim in the pool. The plus side will be that you won't have to pay for parking at the Theme Parks in Disney. I always rent a vehicle when I go whether I stay in one of the WDW Resorts or offsite so I can come and go everywhere as I please and on my own schedule, but the Hyatt has just recently implemented a parking fee of $11.00 per night for guests (this is additional to the $22.00 resort fee plus taxes, prices are subject to change) and this is an extra charge you need to factor into your decision if renting a car. You will also incur a parking charge of approximately $14.00 per day when visiting and parking at the Theme Parks in WDW (this is a one time fee per day no matter how many parks you visit and park at, just keep your reciept for proof of payment). Your third option would be to get a taxi and depending on how many times you will be traveling back and forth, this can become quite costly as well and if you are planning quite a few trips then the rental car or inconvenience of infrequent shuttle service may be your top choice. I hope you figure out which option is best suited for you and I wish you a magical trip in September! Best wishes, Brigitta
