Buffet dining

We will be going to WDW for thanksgiving week this year. Could you recommend a restaurant for thanksgiving dinner?

    Hi Eric,

Thanksgiving is an awesome time to visit Walt Disney World, to spend time with family and kick off the Christmas season. You will find that almost every restaurant will offer a nod to the holiday, including many of the counter service spots. My family has celebrated the holiday there twice recently, and we'll be back in November.

The best choice for you will depend on how traditional you want to be and what kind of atmosphere you're looking for. Liberty Tree Tavern, which offers traditional turkey and stuffing year-round, is extremely popular. It serves family style and feels a bit  like you're eating at home. Most of the signature dining locations will have a Thanksgiving special.

My family chose Artist Point a couple of years ago, which had a prix fixe menu including turkey. (We went for the bison and loved it!) We've also eaten Thanksgiving dinner at Boma, which was great because, as a buffet, it offered a taste of a traditional meal along with its usual African fare.

We're still undecided for this year, but leaning toward one of the new restaurants at Disney Springs, such as Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' (if the turkey is good as the fried chicken, oh my!); Paddlefish; or STK Orlando. We have friends who eat their Thanksgiving meal each year at House of Blues and love it.

No matter what you choose, I suggest you make your reservations in late May as soon as they become available. Spaces fill up quickly.

Please feel free to check back if you have questions about specific restaurants. Enjoy!
