We will be going to WDW for our soms 1st birthday, staying off property so we won't have a dining plan. We have reservations for one sit-down meal a day. Will we have to pay for our one year old? He will pick from me but mostly have his own food from home.

Hi Alexis, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

That first birthday is a real milestone, isn't it? I was so excited to celebrate my son's first birthday - and of course we went to Walt Disney World!

Children under three are considered Guests of Mickey Mouse, so he can share food from your plate at no extra charge. I've also brought my son's favorite snacks and such from home without any problems.

If you haven't already, give Walt Disney World Dining a call and have your son's birthday noted on your reservations. You can also tell your server when you arrive that you're celebrating his big day. There are no guarantees, but you just may find a little extra pixie dust added to your birthday meal!

Here are some other celebration ideas that will help make the day even more special.

Alexis, I hope your little guy has a hot-diggity birthday at Walt Disney World. Please stop by and see us again if you have any more questions.

    Have a magical day,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
