I will be going to wdw on Sept 27. when I tried to book at Wilderness lodge---it was already full, so I am at AKL. Also had trouble booking some restaurants. Usually when I go in Sept the parks are not crowded. Is this not the case due to food/wine fest?

Hi, Nancy!  I think a big factor in the busy resorts and restaurants is the free dining plan.  I know for many families, it's a very big motivational factor in booking their Walt Disney World vacation at what would normally be off peak times to visit.

The weekend preceding the 27th is also the Expedition Everest 5K run, and carry over from the people there for the weekend run might also have some things tied up.

This is normally a pretty light crowd time, so I would think even with the extra people brought in by the free dining and the run, you might still find crowds that are very manageable.  Keep trying for those tough to get restaurants, though.  You might luck in to a cancellation!
