As a WDW Resort guest, can you visit, explore, utilize the other resorts shops, pools and activities?

You can visit other resorts to dine in their restaurants or shop in their stores. Many of the best and most popular restaurants at WDW are in the resort hotels, and anyone, even non-Disney guests can dine there. You can also explore the public areas of other resorts, this is a nice activity during the holiday season, when each hotel has unique and beautiful decorations based on their own themeing. Many people make a whole day of fun just bopping from resort to resort admiring all the festive holiday colors and lights in the hotels.

There are some additional items that any WDW can experience at any other hotel: anyone can rent boats at the lakeside resorts, anyone can visit the Chip & Dale Campfire at Fort Wilderness, anyone can sit on the beach and watch the fireworks from a resort with a view.

But past that, the amenities for the hotels are just for the guests of that hotel. Pooling hopping (using the pools at another resort) is, with rare exception (mostly for Disney Vacation Club owners), a forbidden practice. At the most popular pools, notably the Yacht & Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge, there are periodic room key checks to make sure that the pool users are all guests of that hotel. Similarly, the resort exercise rooms are for the sole use of guests of that hotel.

So as you can see, it's a bit of a mixed bag in what is available for all and what's just for the guests.  I hope this helps a bit.
