Family planning a trip

We will be at WDW Presidents Day weekend. Thinking of staying off property but worried about no Fast Pass access until 30 days out. How important will that earlier FP+ benefit of a Disney Resort be for the holiday weekend?

    Hi Melissa,

Welcome back! Thank you for bringing another great question to us!

Since Fast Pass+ access begins for Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests 60 days prior to their visit, you are already within that 60 day window. I am worried that Fast Pass+ selections for the most popular attractions like Avatar Flight of Passage, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Soarin' may already be gone.

My family always stays at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel because there are so many resort hotel options that fit our budget. And the benefits we get as Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests outweigh any savings we may have off property (unless, of course, we have a free option).

My advice is always to take advantage of the 60 day Fast Pass+ selection window when you can no matter what the time of year. On our last family trip, I was able to get Fast Pass+ selections for Avatar Flight of Passage but, when I checked again a few days later, all Fast Pass+ selections for that attraction were gone. If you are unable to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, make the Fast Pass+ selections that you can when your 30 day window opens, then try 1) arriving at the parks prior to park opening to be one of the first guests to enter or 2) making pre-park opening dining reservations at Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom or Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Epcot. Be sure that you check the park hours and pick a day when the park officially opens at 9:00 a.m. (no Extra Magic Hours). If you snag a reservation at 8:00 a.m., you should be able to dine and get into a stand-by line for a ride by 9:00 a.m. just before the park opens to all guests.

Melissa, on our last visit, we dined at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall before the park opened. We were in line for Frozen Ever After by 9:10 a.m. and did not wait more than 10 minutes for our tour of Arendelle! We were ecstatic!

    Take care,
