    Linda from PA Asked

What is WDW policy on emotional support dogs in parks being they aren’t service dogs? Thanks.

Hi there, Linda! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thanks so much for reaching out and asking your Walt Disney World Resort question!

Walt Disney World Resort does an excellent job creating magical experiences for all of their Guests! This, of course, includes their Guests with disabilities. As someone with various medical conditions and mobility disabilities, I cannot express how important this has been for myself and my family!

Service animals also fall under accessibility while visiting Walt Disney World Resort. Walt Disney World Resort currently defines a service animal as a dog or miniature horse that has been trained to do work or perform tasks for, and to assist, an individual with a disability. Service animals are welcome at almost all areas throughout Walt Disney World Resort, with the exception being some potentially dangerous attractions. Service animals are just as important as any other medical device that assists an individual with a disability so it makes me so happy to know that Disney supports service animals and their handlers whenever they visit!

Emotional support animals are not currently given the same level of access as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Due to this, they are not allowed inside the parks or non-pet friendly areas. However, Guests can now stay at one of the pet-friendly Disney Resort hotels with their emotional support animals! Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort all offer dog-friendly accommodations. Guests will need to provide proof of proper vaccinations records and be in control of their dogs in all public spaces throughout their stay.

I hope this information will assist you and your family in having a magical vacation!
