    We have been to WDW numerous times; we usually stay at The Polyenisan, but we are staying at The Grand Floridian this time. We are traveling with a 7yo. What is the best area/room to stay. We shall arrive 6/17.

    Susan,

    I faced this question last fall. My family and I had typically stayed at the Polynesian, but were trying out the Grand Floridian as a family for the first time.

    Obviously if you are staying in the Concierge level, or with a particular upgraded view like of the Magic Kingdom, your building and room selection is pretty much made for you. But assuming you have a "standard room", here are a few suggestions;

    • Ask to be off on a wing of a building, not with a door that opens into your building's public space. You can have some light, but noticeable noise issues
    • The Conch Key and Sago Cay buildings typically will get you away from more of the ambient noise that the pools can create. They are my first two picks, in no particular order.
    • Don't worry about distance to the main building or transportation. That is not as large of an issue as it is with other resorts, like the Polynesian.
    • Try to get a ground level room. The elevators can be painfully slow.
    I have some other opinions about the resort (all good, by the way!), so write me back if you want some more ideas! We are going back there in October, and I am glad to share some of my personal planning tips!

    Have a magical vacation!
