Family dining outside

We are going to WDW in November and my window for booking dining reservations is coming up soon (ok soonish) Must I purchase my park tickets in order to book my dining reservations?

    Hi Jeannette,

It's never too early to start thinking and dreaming about your dining reservations at Walt Disney World! And you absolutely can make reservations without having park tickets in hand. There's no requirement for guests to have park tickets or resort reservations to take advantage of the 180-day advance dining reservation window.

Just remember that you will need a valid park ticket to access restaurants inside the theme parks. You don't need a ticket to dine at a restaurant in one of the resorts.

Because dining is the most important part of the vacation for my family, I make our dining reservations first, then build the rest of our itinerary -- our FastPass+ reservations and other activities -- around our food choices. We tend to make just one reservation and have one major meal per day, either at lunch or dinner. That gives us flexibility to try different snacks and bites throughout the rest of the day.

If you find you need to change your reservations, you can do that easily on the My Disney Experience Mobile App, based on availability, of course. If plans change and you need to cancel a reservation, please do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a no-show penalty.

Thanks for your question at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jeannette. Please let us know if you'd like recommendations for our favorite restaurants. We're always happy to share our thoughts on all things Walt Disney World.

    Enjoy planning your vacation!
