We are going to WDW May 2011...We are trying to decide if we should stay in Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter- Cen't quite tel what the difference is other then theme. What has anyone else expereinced while staying at one of these resorts?

    Hi Jeffrey!

Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter are sister resorts where the main differences are theme and size. Riverside is larger and more spread out.

These Resorts are my among my favorite in Disney because they have a higher end feel with a moderate price tag. There is a wonderful walkway that connects the sister Resorts where you walk beside the river, enjoying Disney's legendary landscaping and waving at the passengers on the boats as they pass by. Disney describes the Resort themes as Riverside is the old South countryside and the French Quarter is her big city sister.

Another perk to staying at either Resort is that you get to enjoy the amenities at either Resort during your stay. My family stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter, but we walked to Riverside to play and swim. We enjoyed French Quarter because of the smaller size when it came to getting breakfast in the morning and walking to the bus stop.

I hope that you have a wonderful time in Disney World!
