Going to WDW. in June this year and we are staying at the cabins in the camp ground area with grandkids ! Have never stayed there before, any suggestions for making the stay easier ? transportation , start early, eat in or out ? Thanks.....

The cabins at Fort Wilderness offer such a unique twist on Disney stays, Eric.  You feel secluded even though you're in the midst of the magic!  My tips would be as follows:

    • Definitely consider renting a golf cart for the duration of your stay.  Fort Wilderness is a very large property and getting around is so much easier (not to mention way more fun!) with a golf cart.  I can't stress this one enough!
    • Bring bug spray.  When you're tucked into the trees those mosquitoes seem to have more places to hide.
    • Stop for basic groceries or have them delivered.  We found it very convenient to eat a nutritious breakfast (think along the lines of steel cut oats, yogurt, fruit) before starting our days.  We kept our fridge stocked with water bottles, too!
    • Plan to visit the Hoop Dee Doo.  Staying at Fort Wilderness makes it super convenient transportation-wise.  It's fun to zip back to your cabin in a golf cart after the show while throngs of offsite guests have to wait on the buses! ;)
    • Bring along some chamois towels.  Hide them in your golf cart for times when you return from a theme park to the bus stop and find your golf cart soaked from a passing rain shower.
    • Plan for a down evening of grilling with your family at the cabin.  Each porch has a picnic table and grill.  You might want to pack a citronella candle for that event!
I hope you find my suggestions helpful!
