We are going to WDW in June with 10 and 12 year old girls. I have booked the Luau and Hoop Dee Doo dinners. Is there anything else I need to make reservations in advance for? Wanting to make sure I get it all in.

    Hi!

Booking those dinner shows was a great start to your planning. I've taken my girls (age 8 and 11) to them both several times. The Hoop Dee Doo is big favorite of the whole family; we see it every trip.

Your next step is to make reservations for some non-show meals. Particularly with summer travel, you should have an advance dining reservation for every meal that you would like to eat at a table service restaurant. With your tweenagers, you could go a couple of different ways. My 11 year old loves trying the fine dining experiences at WDW. You could book a sophisticated dinner for your sophisticated girls: my suggestions would be Artist Point or the California Grill. These are gourmet restaurants that would really allow your girls to feel grown-up (but there are still coloring pages if they get bored).

Another direction would be to reserve a character meal. At 10 and 12, your girls probably don't need to do a character dining experience every day, but eating at one or two will indulge the little girl that's still in there. With older kids, I might stay away from Chef Mickey's which is very loud and raucous. Your children would probably be most happy at the Cape May Cafe Breakfast at the Beach Club resort  or the Garden Grill meal at Epcot.

We took our daughters to Cirque du Soleil for the first time last week. We all agreed that this was an amazing show. Your girls are certainly old enough to enjoy all of it.

For a different type of indulgence, you could have mommy/daughter mani/pedis at the Spa at Saratoga Springs. Or if your girls are into animals, you could arrange for a horseback trail ride at Fort Wilderness.

These are just a few ideas for making your vacation super-special. Let me know if you have specific questions about any of these.
