We're going to WDW June 2013 with 3 kids, 2 of which have Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, anxiety, OCD and anger. We read about GAC. I would bring a note from our neurologist to obtain. Besides quieter lines, are there any other adv to the GAC? Do you recommend?

    Hi, Jennifer!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip in June! The Guest Assistance Card (GAC) can be very helpful when you're traveling with children who have non-apparent special needs. You can request a GAC for each child by visiting Guest Relations at any of the four theme parks. The children need to accompany you at the time of the request. GACs are not available at the Resort hotels or Downtown Disney. Having a note from your neurologist is helpful, but certainly not required. The GAC can be used at all four theme parks (but not the water parks) and is normally valid for the duration of your vacation. The card allows for up to five people in the party to accompany the cardholder.

While the GAC will not give you front-of-the-line access, the card may allow for alternate access, a quieter place to wait, the ability to have your child remain in a stroller while in line and other possible accommodations. It depends on the attraction, the crowd level and other factors. You can also pick up a printed color Guide for Guests with Disabilities at the entrance to all four theme parks. The Guide has a very handy map of the layout of the park including all the attractions and dining locations.

I recommend checking out the online Guests with Disabilities FAQ before your trip in order to familiarize yourself with the attractions, height requirements and so on. Another thing you may want to do prior to your vacation is to watch videos on YouTube of some of the attractions at the four theme parks. This may help you determine which attractions would be most enjoyable and appropriate for your family.

Sending pixie-dusted wishes for a very magical vacation! Please come back again to visit me if you have any other questions. I would be happy to help!
