Going to WDW in Jan. for a conference. Noticed free meal plan offer, but was told since room and tix were group rate discounted, meal plan was not an option. How much are meal plans normally so I can decide if we should pay standard and get free meals?

    Hi Angie,

This is always a great debate with Disney-meals or rooms and tickets. I would stick with the room and ticket discount unless the following applies:

    1) You are big eaters and you like an appetizer and dessert with each meal.
    2) You like to experience the best restaurants at Walt Disney World such as the California Grill, Flying Fish or Citricos.
    3) You will always eat at a table service meal.

If these things apply, you may want to do the calculations. The Disney Dining plan runs around $50 for an adult and around $15 for a child subject to change.

If you are winging your trip and only like counter service meals, you may not want to take the dining.

I personally find food is the one area at Disney I can control the price. I can bring water and snacks into the park. I can split a meal with my husband if we are having a huge dinner. I find resort and ticket price discounts are harder to come by.

I hope this helps and wish you a magical vacation!
