We have never been to WDW during in the winter. How busy is Magic Kingdom on New Year's Day compared to summer? Also, since we just visited in July, can we use the same magicbands for this trip as well? Any tips for visiting during the new year?

    Hi John,

How lucky to be spending New Year's Day at the Walt Disney World Resort! My family was there a few years ago for New Year's Day and it was crowded. We chose to sleep in late and then explore DisneyQuest for a few hours since we rang in the New Year at Magic Kingdom. The crowds will be just as big if not bigger on New Year's Day than during July's peak travel.

Similar to how you planned for July, you want to make sure you have FastPass+ reservations as well as Advance Dining Reservations. One enhancement you might not have had in July is the ability to add additional FastPass+ as you use your original three. Once you use your original three FastPass+, you can add an additional FastPass+ one at a time. You can continue to do this as you use the FastPass+ and as long as there is availability. I recommend planning FastPass+ for early in the day to increase the chance of obtaining others.

You also want to check the weather during this time. I have been there when it was 80 degrees and when it was 25 degrees. You definitely want to be prepared for a cool front.

You can use the same MagicBands as you had in July as the battery life is about two years.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
