Going to WDW 4/09 to celebrate anniversary w/o kids. Could you suggest some nice places to eat dinner (character-free)? California Grill or Kona? Also, wondering about restaurants at AK, AKL or WL? Thank you!

First of all, Happy (early) Anniversary!  You've chosen the perfect place to celebrate.

As for where to dine, I think I can offer some suggestions.

The California Grill is a far more romantic restaurant than Kona cafe.  The atmosphere there is upscale and sophisticated whereas the Kona cafe tends to be fairly loud and somewhat hectic (at least every time I've been there).  I think you'll also find that the menu at California Grill includes more in the way of gourmet dishes.  That isn't to say that the food at Kona is bad by any means, just less formal.

At Animal Kingdom Lodge I can whole-heartedly recommend Jiko.  My husband, my sister-in-law and I enjoyed a fabulous meal there in September.  The food was absolutely delicious and the African wine list was both unique and impressive.  You really won't be sorry if you try it.

Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge is also a winning choice.  It, too, is a signature dining location.  As such you will find that it offers a more sophisticated atmosphere and gourmet menu.  Unlike Jiko's African take on taste, the menu at Artist Point is inspired by the flavors of the Pacific Northwest.

As for the Animal Kingdom, you might try Yak and Yeti.  My family had lunch there in September.  We each ordered a separate entree but shared amongst ourselves.  Of the three meals I had the pleasure of tasting I'm happy to report that not one of them let my tastebuds down!  The menu at Yak and Yeti has an Asian flair to it so if you don't care for that type of cuisine, perhaps the Rainforest Cafe is more suited to your tastes.

    Hope that helps!
