We have been to WDW a bunch of times, but have stayed at the value hotels all the time. Wanting to stay at a Deluxe hotel next trip. Have 13 and 11 year old daughters. Was thinking about Animal Kingdom Lodge, but heard it might be too grown up for them?

    Hi James,

How exciting that you are considering upgrading your next trip with a stay at one of Disney's deluxe resorts.  Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of my family's favorite properties, largely because of the fact that my children love waking up in the morning and checking out the wildlife in their PJs!  My boys are 5 and 7 and absolutely love the restaurants, amenities and, of course, access to exotic animals at the Lodge.

The pools at both Jambo House and Kidani Village are well-themed and a wonderful retreat from the busy parks.  The resort rooms are themed with African-inspired furniture and colorful linens.  Dining options are among the best at Disney.  Boma is a family-friendly buffet restaurant with a huge variety of choices for everyone from picky to adventurous eaters.  The Mara is one of my absolute favorite quick service spots, and Jiko is a culinary masterpiece!  Sanaa, the newest restaurant at Kidani Village enables guests to stare out at animals at eye level while dining.  During my last visit, the same beautiful, large bird dined "with us" directly outside our window two nights in a row!

I actually think your girls are at a perfect age to understand and appreciate how spectacular Animal Kingdom Lodge is.  I think it's a great choice for your family.

    Have a wonderful trip!
