I am a WDW AP but am planning a trip to DL for the first week of Sept 2018 for my three children (8,6, and 4). First time in Cali and deciding how to best use time to do all we can! How many days would you recommend for DL and DCA? Debating between 3 or 4?

Hi there, Emily! I am so giddy that you are planning your first trip to the Disneyland Resort!

While there are a lot of similarities between the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort, I think that the Happiest Place on Earth is extremely unique in so many ways. You will certainly experience some new and exciting things, but with all the Disney magic and charm you expect when you visit next year.

Whenever I visit with my family, I plan for at least four days. The parks, hotels, and the Downtown Disney District are all really close together which means you will move around far more efficiently than you would at the Walt Disney World Resort. However, so many attractions, character experiences, dining options, and entertainment offerings are packed in here that you really need several days to experience your must dos. Plus, when you travel with young kids you need to keep your plans flexible, so the extra day will ensure you don't miss out on something. And you can have a leisurely Disney vacation with four days without feeling like you have to rush from one thing to another.

Some other things to consider to maximize your time will be upgrading to Disney MaxPass so you can quickly and easily select FASTPASSES for your whole family from anywhere in the parks and staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel so you can have Extra Magic Hour every day of your stay. This will include an hour at Disney California Adventure Park that is exclusive for Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests!

I would love to help you continue to plan, so please stop by again with any other questions you may have!
