If the water parks must close due to inclement weather, do we get any kind of compensation or rainy day raincheck type ticket?

    Hi Sydeana,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! As far as I know, Walt Disney World has only closed a handful of times over the years because of weather. In each case I'm aware of, the parks closed temporarily because of hurricanes, including my namesake storm Wilma back in 2005. So I'm not sure what the compensation policy is because an unexpected closing is such a rare occurrence.

Since you live in Florida, I'm sure you are well aware of our summer pattern of afternoon thunderstorms. Some rides may close temporarily during those deluges, but in general, guests simply put on their rain ponchos and keep going, enjoying indoor attractions as much as possible until the storms pass. My family was at Hollywood Studios a couple of weekends ago when a thunderstorm blew in. We ducked into a gift shop for a few minutes to let the worst of it subside and then decided to put on our rain gear. By the time we unfolded our ponchos and got them on, the rain had stopped.

I know that doesn't really answer your question. But here's hoping that we won't have any hurricanes to deal with this year so that we won't have to find out what that refund policy is!

Enjoy your upcoming visit, and please let us know if we can do anything else to try to help you with your plans.
