We are wanting to go to Magic Kingdom and Epcot on the day after Thanksgiving. We will have 1 wheelchair in our group. Will these to parks be totally impossible to move around in with the wheelchair? We have never been using a wheelchair or stroller.

    Hi Phyllis ~

Thanksgiving is an exciting time to visit Walt Disney World as the parks and resorts have already been transformed into a holiday wonderland for the Christmas season! A lot of Guests typically visit during the week of Thanksgiving and many of those Guests will be using strollers, wheelchairs and ECVs. I have a son that always uses a larger stroller as a wheelchair and we often visit the parks during peak holiday seasons. While it is crowded, with a little planning you can still have a great time.

Walt Disney World has done a great job of making the theme parks and other resort areas as accessible as possible by providing many different services for Guests with mobility disabilities. Many of the transportation options including buses, monorails, and some of the larger water craft can accommodate Guests in wheelchairs. There are handicapped accessible restrooms throughout the resort. There are designated parade viewing areas as well as in the entertainment venues for Guests in wheelchairs and ECVs. They usually allow one person to remain with the Guest in the wheelchair while the other members of your party can watch from nearby.

Wheelchair rentals are available at all of the theme parks as well as Disney Springs.

Some attractions allow Guests to remain in their wheelchairs to board and other attractions require Guests to be mobile to board. Most of the queues at the Walt Disney World Resort can now accommodate Guests traveling in wheelchairs. If there are queues that require Guests in wheelchairs to enter through alternate queues, you can see a Cast Member for assistance.

I'm limited in space but please feel free to visit again with all of your questions. We are hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
