Can we wait in line with our kids but NOT go on the ride with them? We both get really bad motion sickness so the simulation rides, spin rides and big drops aren't our favorite. We'd love to be with our kids while they wait tho.

Hello, Kristina! You have nothing to fear as the Disney Parks Moms Panel is here to help you with your trip planning needs!

As someone who is very prone to motion sickness, I can certainly relate. Some rides make me turn green, just at the thought of riding (I'm talking about you, Tea Cups)! Sadly, as my Prince Charming and I get older, we are adding more attractions to our "must sit out" list, even though some are old favorites. I'm not ashamed to admit that we let our then 14-year-old son take his two younger brothers on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue several years ago while we waited at the exit. We inwardly chuckled at the legions of parents who looked slightly green when getting off.

Walt Disney World Resort's official Property Rules state that to board an attraction, children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a guest who is 14 years or older. As long as your Mouseketeers are at least seven (or if you have a willing teenager in your presence), you're good to go. You're welcome to go through the standby queue with your kiddos, and then the Cast Members will direct you to the best place to wait while they ride. If you'd prefer to go through the FastPass+ queue, note that you'll all need a FastPass+ reservation for the attraction, even if you're not riding.

We often get questions about Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and whether it can trigger motion sickness.  I've ridden it several times, and I can attest that I felt fine afterward and the drop was only "moderately" scary (take that with a grain of salt since I am a self-confessed chicken). I urge you to experience this attraction as it truly lives up to all the hype it gets! As a precaution, pack some Dramamine in your park bag and then follow up your mission with a refreshing concoction from the Milk Stand!

I hope this helps put your mind (and stomach) at ease, Kristina! See ya' real soon!

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
