We will be visiting WDW for my sons birthday end of march. 3 of us have AP's and 2 people have 3-day passes. We will not have magic bands bc we are staying at a GN hotel and we haven't activated AP yet. Should I buy them for the experience?

Hi, Kali, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It's always a pleasure to chat with a fellow Floridian!

How fun to spend your little guy's big day at the Walt Disney World Resort! My son is also a March baby, and we just celebrated his ninth birthday there. We all had a blast, and I know you will, too!

As you point out, Annual Passholders get one free MagicBand per pass, which you can customize and order once the pass is activated. While they are fun to use, I don't think you need to buy MagicBands just for this trip, especially since you're staying offsite. Your Annual Pass Card will work as your admission to the Theme Parks, FastPass+ entry, and access to your Disney PhotoPass photos. Plus, you need your card for Passholder discounts on dining and shopping, so you should always keep it with you anyway.

Having said that...you might consider buying a special MagicBand for the birthday boy! There are many designs available beyond the solid colors offered for Passholders and Resort hotel stays, so I'm sure you'll find something he'd love. It's a fun memento of the trip, and he can use it again and again on future visits.

And Kali, don't forget to pick up a Celebration button for your son's big day! He'll get lots of warm birthday wishes as he wears it all around the Parks. It will make him feel so special!

I hope this helps you plan a magical birthday for your little Mouseketeer, Kali. Please come see us again if you have any more questions!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
