I will be visiting WDW Nov. 7, 2012 for 8 days. I have 2 girls ages 12 and 15. I'm torn between staying at The Cabins at DFW or D Old Key West. My husband and I like the more quiet places. Could you tell me which one you think would best suite us?

Hi Jill! My family loves the Fort Wilderness cabins during their stays at Walt Disney World. It is one of the most peaceful and quiet places on property and when we are there we often forget we are actually at this great vacation destination.

There are pros and cons for both. The cabins are great since you do not share any common wall with another cabin. Your "room" is private and they are placed so you are not right on top of each other. The smell of the outdoors and pines is energizing to me and I love taking the walks to spot the many deer, turkey, armadillo, and occasional other wildlife. The cons are that there isn't a lot of storage/closet space so you learn to use every cabinet available. There is one bathroom with one sink making getting ready in mornings a challenge for some families. With two older girls this is something to consider. The bedroom will have a double bed and bunk beds and then the living area has a murphy double bed. It is quite comfortable but you have to decide if this sleeping situation will work for you.

Old Key West is a beautiful resort with great charm. You can request a room or building that will give you more of an isolated location if you choose. Most guests always request something close to the action so this shouldn't be a problem.  Depending on the type of room it will offer various sleeping arrangements from two bedrooms with queen and king beds to pull out sofas and sleeper chairs.

Both use internal bus systems to get around and both offer full kitchen facilities. In my opinion your choice needs to depend on how you wish to have the sleeping arrangements be that would be best for your family. With older children you might prefer the Old Key West resort.
