We are visiting WDW in late Sept with our 5 yr old daughter and 2 yr old son, it will be our first time. We are definitely going to Magic Kingdom but my question is how many days should we purchase tickets for and what other parks are age appropriate?

    Hi Sarah!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

This is a hard question.  Walt Disney World is twice the size of Manhattan Island in New York and about the same size as San Francisco, California.  Needless to say, there is a lot of things to do at Walt Disney World.

I suggest spending at least two days in the Magic Kingdom.  Not only is in the crown jewel of the resort,  and in my opinion of the entire theme park industry, but it is generally the favorite park of young children.  However, you should also visit the other 3 parks.  All of the parks at Walt Disney World were designed with the entire family in mind.  I know that may sound strange if your only experience is with regional amusement parks, but it is true!  My wife, for example, doesn't like any of the 4 amusement parks near us, but she absolutely loves Walt Disney World.  She likes the fact that families can stay together on most of the attractions there.

Be sure to make Advance Dining Reservations.  ADRs are required to enjoy the excellent Table Service (full service) restaurants at Walt Disney World.  With young children, you should definitely try some Disney Character Dining Experiences.  ADRs can be made online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE.

Since it is your first time visiting, I recommend picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book for first time visitors as it is full of information, but is not overwhelming.  It is also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will give you a good sense of everything there is to do at Walt Disney World.

Our responses are limited in length, but  I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
