    hello I am visiting wdw in jan for a week by Myself........ looking forward to enjoying the sights and sounds but being by myself I am looking for things that can enjoy without feeling like the fifth wheel on the dunebuggy...any suggestions?

    Hi Pamela,

    If you're a social butterfly like me, then you'll have a blast making new friends during your vacation. I've flown solo around the theme parks before and I never had trouble chatting it up with other guests and cast members. It's almost like the social barriers that get put around us in the real world don't exist at Walt Disney World.

    Now, if you fancy yourself to be more of an introvert, I wouldn't worry either. There are plenty of attractions that will allow single riders to have their own ride vehicle (e.g. The Haunted Mansion).

    (Speaking of The Haunted Mansion, I got a good chuckle from "fifth wheel on the Doom Buggy"!)

    On some attractions, you may find yourself paired up with another guest or group. Don't sweat it because that's a very common practice at those attractions and I'd be willing to bet that many times you'll sit next to someone that'll welcome you with a smile.

    That being said, I'd like to share a few of the regular "ice breaker" moves you'll see me pull when I'm flying solo and get paired up with another guest or group:

    1) I'll give my signature, "What's happenin'?" greeting;
    2) If I'm in a loud spot, I'll launch a righteous thumbs-up; or
    3) I'll offer a high five and say, "Up Top!"

    Of course, a more civilized greeting of, "Hello" will work just as well.

    The bottom line is that you shouldn't worry about feeling like the fifth wheel on the Doom Buggy. (I'm definitely going to borrow that one one from you!) Speaking from experience, there isn't a single attraction that you should shy away from. So, prepare yourself for an awesome vacation ahead!

    I hope that helps! If you should have any additional questions, please feel free to write back and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
