We are visiting WDW in Jan. '10. My son has severe food allergies but we would love to do a character meal with him. We did one in the past but it ended up costing us $50. for a special meal...just for him!! Anywhere or anything else you can think of?

Hi, Danielle! I have taught several little ballerinas with severe food allergies. I understand how prepared moms have to be to accommodate their allergies yet also make the children feel like they are not missing out on the fun. Before you leave, visit Dietary Concerns to get complete information on what is available at WDW dining and how the resort handles dietary allergies and restrictions.  In addition, you'll want to email specialdiets@disneyworld.com at least 48 hours prior to your arrival to inform them of his specific needs and to inquire about any possible extra expense.  Then, call Disney dining at 407-939-3463 to make advanced dining reservations and confirm those special dietary requests with the Cast Member who takes your information. It's also a good idea to remind your server about your requests once you arrive at the restaurant.

There is no problem bringing any antihistamines, an epi-pen or asthma medications into the parks.  You'll just want to inform the Cast Member inspecting bags at security what they are.  Lastly, you can certainly bring snacks and food items to your resort as well as into any of the parks as long as they don't require heating. Most resort rooms are equipped with small refrigerators.

I hope you have a wonderful day and a magical vacation! Enjoy counting down the days!
