We are visiting WDW for the first time with a 5 year old and 2 year old. We are only doing a one day pass for Magic Kingdom and we are staying off resort. What tips or advice could you give me to make this trip as wonderful as possibe?

    Hi Natalie,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.  Your children are at a great age to be immersed in the wonder of Magic Kingdom!  I am going to start by suggesting that you order the free Walt Disney World vacation planning DVD.  When you view this, it will give you an idea of what to expect at Magic Kingdom, and you can start to think about which specific attractions your children might love.

I highly suggest that you arrive early on the day that you plan to visit Magic Kingdom, even 30 minutes ahead of the posted opening time if you can.  Early in the day, the lines are shorter for attractions so you can enjoy more attractions in less time.  On your way into Magic Kingdom, stop at Guest Relations to get free "First Visit" buttons.  It is fun to wear these buttons around the park and hear cast members wishing you a happy first visit.  No special magic is guaranteed with these buttons, but you never know when a little extra pixie dust might be sprinkled on your day!

There are lots of great quick-service locations where you can grab food quickly, such as Columbia Harbour House or Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe; however, since you might be spending a long day at Magic Kingdom, I might suggest a mid-day break for a sit-down meal.  My favorite restaurant in Magic Kingdom is The Plaza Restaurant, which is a simple and quaint place to get a sandwich and ice cream.  If you do decide that you would like a sit-down meal, I suggest that you make a reservation soon by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) or by visiting Disney Dining Online.

I would love to help you plan more Natalie; however, I am limited in the amount of space that I have to answer.  Please do write back if you have any further questions.
