We are visiting WDW in February 2010. Our kids will be 10,7,6,4 and 2.Two (6&2)kids will have their birthdays there. We are looking for something that is big enough for our family of 7 since this will be our first family vacation. Thank You!!

    Laurie:

You've got several options, especially if you put your 2-year-old in a crib in the room!  (When you have an infant in a crib, they don't count toward the guest count for the room.)  There's a big leap in accommodations for 6 versus 7!

    In order, according to cost:
    • All-Star Music Family Suites:  These suites accommodate six and are the size of two hotel rooms.  They offer a living area with sleeper sofa, chair and ottoman that transform into "roll-a-ways"; a bedroom with queen bed; a kitchenette with sink, microwave and mini-frig and my personal favorite: two bathrooms.  I like the fact that you can put the younger ones down in the bedroom and still have space for everyone to relax!
    • Cabins at Fort Wilderness: These cabins accommodate six, but have much more space than the family suites. They come with a bedroom that includes a double bed and a set of bunks; one large bathroom with lots of counter space; a full-size kitchen with oven and frig and a large living/dining area with a Murphy bed.  Our family prefers these because of the deck and grill outside and space to ride their bikes and razors.
    • Deluxe rooms:  If you want to stay at a Deluxe resort but a suite isn't affordable, look into their deluxe rooms.  The Boardwalk Inn's Deluxe room features two queen beds and a pull-out sofa.
    • 1- or 2-bedroom suite:  These are Disney Vacation Club Villas.  Some 1-bedrooms can accommodate six and they'll feature a full-size kitchen and a master bath you can spend hours in!  With your children's ages, I'd look into Animal Kingdom's or Beach Club's villas.  With a Savannah view, your family can wake up with the animals at AK or enjoy Stormalong Bay with its water slides and lazy river at BC.
Wishing your family a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
