    Wendy Asked

Will be visiting WDW in early Feb. Traveling with husband, 2 and 4 year old boys, both grandmothers and myself. Considering 2 rooms at Pop or 1 Wilderness Cabin. Price not considered, which would you choose and why? WC has longer travel to resorts?

Hi Wendy!  I have stayed and do enjoy the Fort Wilderness cabins.  However, for your size group one cabin would be quite cramped and I would not suggest that for your accommodations.  They have one bedroom which has a double bed and a bunk bed, one very small closet, and one very small chest of drawers.  The second bed is a double pull down Murphy bed in the living area.  There are two cabinets for some storage but that is it!  To keep your suitcases out would completely fill this space.  There is a full kitchen and one bath and other fun amenities such as a deck with a grill.  There are also two tvs and a vcr and DVD  player. If you wanted to reserve two cabins for the family then I would say it is a great idea!

Fort Wilderness is often a hidden and forgotten gem at Disney World.  There are so many great activities such as horseback riding, pony rides, nightly singalongs and campfires, pools, fishing, watercraft rentals, and dinner shows.  Your boys would probably love the Mickey's Backyard Barbecue if it is being done during the time you are there!

The park travel times are not any longer and often shorter  from Fort Wilderness.  You can reach the Magic Kingdom via boat launch and the other parks via the buses.  There is an internal bus system to get around the campgrounds and the buses run often.
