We are visiting from the UK in November with a 3 year old and are thinking of going to Mickeys very merry christmas party, is it worth the ticket cost for us? I am concerned that it is into the night and may be a waste with a toddler, thanks :-)

    Hi Helen!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is one of my family's all-time favorite events at Disney World.

However, I think you have a great question and I think that it depends on a few things.

    1)  Is your son pretty flexible?  If you can get him to take a long afternoon nap, will he be ready to party the night away?  Or will he be cranky and irritable at the change of schedule?

    2)  Is he excited about seeing characters and parades, or will all the noises scare him?

    3)  Is the money a real stretch of your budget?

We took my oldest son when he was almost three.  My son was NOT a flexible toddler.  We did do the afternoon nap thing, but he was still very tired by 8 p.m.  At the time, I remember thinking that it was probably a waste of money, because all we really did was watch the (amazing) parade and then shop a little.

Now that he is 12, though, I consider it totally worth the money as I think about the wonder in his eyes as I filmed him watching the Christmas parade.  Seeing him wave and yell at Santa Claus as a precious, little toddler is definitely priceless!  He also danced around in the "snow" that falls on Main Street!  I now have two boys ( 9 and 12)  that still love going to the Christmas party, but it's not the same as the innocent amazement that they had when they were your son's age.

I hope this helps you make your decision.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
