Hi there. We are visiting in September & have a down day of not visiting any parks. Can you recommend other ideas perhaps in Downtown Disney or in the area that we can explore? Thanks

    Hi Melissa,

Our family always takes at least one day to explore outside the major theme parks at Walt Disney World.

We enjoy going to Downtown Disney for shopping and dining. Our son loves the Lego Store as well as DisneyQuest for the virtual reality video games!

Elsewhere on property, we enjoy renting Sea Raycer boats to cruise the resort's waterways. On our last vacation, we had so much fun zipping around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

September is still plenty hot enough to enjoy a water park. And the miniature golf courses are also a fun diversion.

A lot of fun can be had exploring the hotels. We love to take the monorail loop stopping at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian. Time your exploration to have a nice meal at one of the restaurants or try one of the quick-service dining locations.

Fort Wilderness offers all kinds of fun opportunities from carriage rides to horse back riding to archery lessons. Our son absolutely loved the archery lesson on our last vacation and we've previously enjoyed a carriage ride there as well.

Finally, don't underestimate a day at your resort. Enjoy time at the pool to rejuvenate!

I love the recreation at WDW!
