We will be visiting Orlando for the first time with our kids (13 and 11) from April 15 through April 19. What is the best strategy for visiting parks and avoiding the crowds (I was thinking of late day to night time)?

    Hey Ruby!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Mom Panel! Thank you so much for bringing us this question.

I have found the best touring strategy for visiting all the parks, except Disney's Animal Kingdom, is to arrive early, take an afternoon break, then come back and stay late. When I say arrive early, I mean at least 30 minutes early. Some parks will actually open their gates 15 or 20 minutes early. Disney's Hollywood Studios has been known to do this quite often.

By arriving early we can usually get on almost any of the big rides (ie. Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Pirate of the Caribbean, etc.) with a minimal wait until about 10:00 a.m. After that we visit the smaller attractions such as Mickey's PhilharMagic, It's A Small World and Tomorrowland Transit Authority until we were ready for our afternoon break.

For Disney's Animal Kingdom, which I feel can be fully toured by late-afternoon depending on crowd levels, I suggest arriving early then staying there until you have seen and done everything you wish.

I hope this helps with your planning. If you have any other questions please come back and see me.

Wishing you a magical vacation and a pixie-dusted day!
