Visiting Oct 9-15, 2016 with twin 7 yr old boys. Doing a split stay. First part of our trip will be at Poly Villas. Debating between the WL villas and the BW villas for the 2nd half of our trip. What are pros/cons btw the 2? How are crowds Columbus week?

    Hi Kimberly,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. My family and I enjoy vacations where we split our stay between two resorts. This way, you get to experience the unique magic of two separate resorts! Starting your vacation at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will begin your vacation in excellent fashion. This resort is lush and beautiful, and the proximity to Magic Kingdom is wonderful.

I recommend that you spend the next half of your trip at Disney's BoardWalk Villas. I will admit - I am biased! Disney's BoardWalk Villas is my home resort with Disney Vacation Club. I love the hustle and bustle of Disney's BoardWalk. There is so much to do right in walking distance, including so many choices for dining and entertainment. You will also be in easy walking distance or a quick boat ride away from both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Since you are beginning your trip at a resort close to Magic Kingdom, I think that moving to a resort closer to other theme parks will be beneficial because you can choose theme parks to visit based on their proximity to your resort. The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge are lovely and relaxing, and would put you a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. I tend to enjoy the energetic feel more at Disney's BoardWalk Villas, but that is just my personal opinion!

The Columbus Day holiday in October should not increase crowds at Walt Disney World too much. Since it is typically a three-day weekend rather than a longer break, it may mean slightly higher crowds especially on the weekend and the holiday itself, but not as high as longer breaks such as spring break.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Kimberly. Please do let us know if you have any further questions!
