We are visiting in Jan and will have a 7, and 4 yo with us. What are some places to eat that are kid friendly. We are planning on the Deluxe Dining so that we get three good meals. As for the two snacks, is fruit offered instead of just junk food?

    Hi again Konda,

You will find great dining options at Walt Disney World, including many that are geared toward healthy eating. You certainly can get fruit and other healthy snacks with your dining credits. For healthy meals, look for the Mickey Check icon on the kids menus.

Your children will feel welcome in any Walt Disney World restaurant, though you will have to judge whether they have the patience for a long meal in a fancier venue. Some of my recommendations for places they will surely enjoy:
    • Chef Mickey's. Visit with Mickey and his friends in the Contemporary resort as the monorail passes overhead.
    • Crystal Palace buffet with Winnie the Pooh and friends at Magic Kingdom.
    • Be Our Guest inside the Beast's castle at Magic Kingdom.
    • Via Napoli at Epcot. Watch the pizza go in and out of the "mouths" of the wood-fired oven.
    • Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Hollywood Studios. Eat in a mock car as clips of '50s sci-fi movies play on the screen.
    • T-Rex at Downtown Disney. Dine among animatronic dinosaurs. Or, for a similar experience, try Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney or Animal Kingdom.
    • Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. The family style dinner includes songs and jokes with the fare.
    • Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge. If your kids are somewhat adventurous eaters, they will enjoy the food and the view of the animals on the savannah.
    • Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness. A rousing two-hour show for the whole family is included with the unlimited fried chicken, ribs and fixin's.

I'm limited on space, but I encourage you to review the menus on the Disney site or at the independent site allears.net. Please feel free to write back if I can give you more specifics on these or other restaurants or on any Walt Disney World activity. Enjoy!
