Hello. We will visiting Disneyland for the first time with our 3 kids in January. I am just wondering how tickets to the parks work, will we have paper tickets or a card? Someone told me I should buy lanyards...#firsttimerproblems

    Aloha, Jennifer!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I can't wait for you to visit the Happiest Place on Earth in January. This is one of my favorite times to visit as temperatures are cooler and crowds are lower. I suggest bringing layers to keep warm in the cooler morning and evening hours.

Purchasing your Disneyland Resort theme park tickets is a breeze. I suggest buying them online or via the official Disneyland app on your mobile device. You will need to decide how many days you will be spending in the parks and whether you want to park hop or visit only a single park each day. Keep in mind that Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are only footsteps apart making park hopping SO easy. Children ages 3-9 will need a child ticket and Guests 10 years and older will need an adult ticket. If you have kids under 3, they will not need to show proof of age and do not require a park ticket at all. Once you decide the type of tickets you will be utilizing, I suggest selecting the eTicket option. This will provide you an email to show right as you walk up to the front gate bypassing the ticket booths. At the park entrance you will have your photo taken, and you will be given paper tickets which you can then scan and link right to the Disneyland app on your mobile device. You are more than welcome to use a lanyard to keep your paper park ticket, but you can also use your electronic ticket linked to the app to scan at park entrances and attractions using FASTPASS. Even though I primarily use my electronic ticket in the app, I still always suggest keeping your paper ticket on you just in case your phone has technical difficulties.

I hope this helps, and please return if you have any other questions as you plan your magical vacation!
