We are visiting Disney world April 2015 for 3 days, it coincides with my sons 5th birthday the first day we arrive. Which park would you suggest to visit the first day for his birthday and how can we make it extra special for him?

Hello Louise, thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I took my son on a Walt Disney World vacation last August for his 5th birthday and it was so much fun. We always make The Magic Kingdom our first and last stop during any vacation. There is nothing like getting a glimpse of the iconic Cinderella Castle to kick off a fun trip. Let me give you some suggestions on how to sprinkle a little extra "pixie-dust" on his birthday:

*Pick up a map upon entering the park and let him choose the attractions for the day. He will feel special knowing that he is a part of planning the adventure.

*Schedule a Character Dining Experience so that he can meet some of his favorite characters while eating a delicious meal. Chef Mickey's, located at Disney's Contemporary Resort, is just a monorail ride away from The Magic Kingdom. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald come around to each table for pictures, autographs and hugs. Also, when scheduling the reservation, let the Cast Member know that it is his birthday and he might get a special birthday cupcake or a signed birthday card.

*If your son loves pirates as much as we do, he would love the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage. What better way to top of a special birthday night than by setting sail on a fireworks cruise with a pirate captain? Snacks and drinks are provided before the cruise and there is an opportunity to meet Mr. Smee and Captain Hook himself!

*If you order an In-Room Celebration from Disney Floral and Gifts, it'll surely be a birthday surprise to remember. Once you get back to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, your birthday boy will be delighted to find some birthday treats waiting for him.

I'm running out of space, but if you need any more ideas we'd be happy to help!
