    Hi Bridget,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, fellow Marylander!  I'm happy to help you with questions about your first Walt Disney World trip.  It's great that your friends will be letting you use their Disney Vacation Club points for your first trip.  Disney Vacation Club is a fabulous way to have a wonderful resort experience.

Disney Vacation Club Member Services can assist with purchasing theme park tickets, adding the Disney Dining Plan, and adding Magical Express to your reservation.  In order to call Disney Vacation Club Member Services, you do need to be a member of Disney Vacation Club and provide your Member Number.  Therefore, your friend will need to do this for you.  Your friend can call Member Services at 1-800-800-9800 to add any of these items to your reservation.

For the Disney Dining Plan and for Magical Express, you really do need to have your friend call Disney Vacation Club Member Services to add these items to your specific reservation.  For theme park tickets, your friend could add them by calling Member Services, or you could buy those separately.  You can purchase your Walt Disney World theme park tickets online.  A child under three years old is considered "Mickey's Guest" and therefore does not need a ticket.  I always carried my daughter's birth certificate with me just in case a cast member asked how old she was.  This only happened once, when my very tall daughter was two years old, and I was so surprised that I started fumbling for her birth certificate immediately.  The cast member simply thanked me and waved us in.

I hope this information is helpful for you Bridget.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions planning your first trip to Walt Disney World and your stay at a Disney Vacation Club resort!
