visiting disney in June I reallywant my six year old son to experience character dinning. We are not driving so I was hoping to make reservations at one of the park restaurants. Which one is most cost friendly and should I do a breakfast or dinner

    Hi Theresa!

Character dining is a great way for your son to meet some of the characters all while enjoying a yummy meal,it's one of my favorite parts of a Disney vacation!  Breakfast is the way to go to get the most value for your money, it is generally the least expensive character meals. To get even more value try making a reservation for one of the last times available for breakfast, you can use this meal as a lunch instead.  The restaurant will usually be less crowded and you may get more one on one character time.

My recommendations for character breakfast are:
Crystal Palace- features Winnie the Pooh and gang, very yummy food and the cheapest character meal inside the parks, sometimes open before Magic Kingdom ( a great way to get photos in front of the castle without a lot of people in the background)
1900 Park Fare- breakfast usually includes Mary Poppins, Alice and the Mad Hatter, this is also the least expensive character meal on Disney property

    For Dinner:
Garden Grill-characters include Mickey, Chip N'Dale and Pluto, revolving restaurant with great views of Living with the Land attraction, food offerings feature seasonal inspirations, least expensive character dinner dining experience on property

Even though you won't have a car while staying on property Disney transportation can easily let you try character dining in other resorts.  Dining at one of the character meals such as 1900 Park Fare is a snap with the Monorail.  Just take the bus to Magic Kingdom and then hop on the Monorail.  Buses to the parks will typically start running an hour before a park's opening to get you to your reservation on time.  I hope this helps and please visit us again if you have anymore questions!

    Enjoy your Disney Time!
