Mom and daughter on Expedition Everest

We'll be visiting Disney April 9-13 with our 2 year old son. I enjoyed the Luau last time I was there, but is it possible for a 2 year old to sit through this?  I'm going to try to schedule as many character meals as I can, which can you recommend?

I have been to the Luau several times with my children. When my daughter was three she was terrified of the fire dancers there. And even at age five it was a bit of a long show for my girls. If I were you, I might put off doing the Luau with your son for another two to three years.

On the other hand they LOVED eating at character meals right from babyhood. During the preschool years, we scheduled at least one character meal every day. When the kids were this age we had the best luck at the buffet-style meals. At a buffet, your child has a bit more latitude to move around and it doesn't seem odd if you're up and down dealing with your child. Also, one of my girls was (and is) a fairly fussy eater. She seemed to do better with the food at restaurants if she could see it in advance, as you can at a buffet.

The most classic character meal buffet is Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary. Mickey and his pals reign here. Other buffet character meals that we've enjoyed over the years include the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom, Ohana at the Polynesian, the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club, and 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian.

Hope you have a great trip!
