We are visiting in Dec w/ 4 yr old twins. We will be seeing Mickey's Xmas @ MK, entering the park at 4pm to start our evening there. What are good activities to do during the day, prior to going to MK, if we aren't planning on doing a park?

    Hi Skylar,

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Part is a fantastic way to get your family into the holiday spirit, "Disney style!"  It's one of my absolute favorite special events at Walt Disney World.  Cinderella Castle is spectacular lit up with thousands of magical lights.  The parade is festive and culminates with an appearance by St. Nick, and the special holiday fireworks are amazing!  My favorite part of the evening, however, is walking down Main Street in the "snow" and enjoying complimentary hot cocoa and cookies with my family.

As for what to do before heading over to the park, I have a few ideas.  Downtown Disney is lovely during the holidays, and a great place to start your Christmas shopping.  The shops can ship your purchases home for a reasonable fee so you don't need to worry about checking  your things onto a plane.  TRex and Rainforest Cafe are two very well themed restaurants that I bet your four-year-olds= twins would love to stop in for lunch.  You could also enjoy a leisurely afternoon at your resort, as I'm guessing that your going to be out late at the party.  The pools at all of the Disney hotels are heated, so if the sun is out, a swim is a great choice.  Finally, you might want to have an early dinner/late lunch in a resort on the monorail line before heading over to the park.  The Wave (at the Contemporary) and Grand Floridian Cafe are two suggestions for a fabulous meal.

It sounds like you have the makings of a perfect Disney day!  Have a wonderful time!
