Visiting in Dec. Hubby, me, adult daughter, teen daughter and her 2 teen girlfriends. Booked AofA but considering Cabins. Hubby loves hot tubs but isn't keen on lots of walking. Not sure which way to go! More info on cabins would be awesome!

    Hi there, Janet!

The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness are definitely the most well-appointed "roughing it" you'll find! They are nestled amongst gorgeous Florida woods, and in order to keep the surroundings as serene as possible, you'll be permitted only one car by your Cabin (any other vehicles will need to be parked in the front lot). But this access makes it easy to bring in your groceries, supplies, luggage, etc.

You'll find a fair bit of walking at either Resort. If you do not have a car, for instance, you'll take the internal shuttle system. The bus will leave you off at a central stop for your give section, and you'll walk from the stop. This could be as long as it takes for you to get to your building at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, depending upon where you are located on property.

Each Cabin, while providing sleeping room for up to eight, offers only one bathroom. The suites in Disney's Art of Animation offer an en-suite bathroom for the main bedroom, and a second full bathroom for the common area. With teenagers, that might be a real help!

One big difference would be in amenities, as the Cabins are considered Moderate class, and Art of Animation is considered Value. If your husband likes hot tubs, he might prefer the Cabins, which feature a recently renovated pool area, complete with splash pad, slide, and hot tub. The pools at Art of Animation, while surrounded by amazing decor, are fairly standard. There is no hot tub and no slide. There is a play area for the little ones.

The tipping point seems to be a battle between hot tub vs. bathroom. In either case, you'll find wonderful accommodations, fun activities, and the Disney service that is second to none.

    Have a wonderful time!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
