We have visited WDW 4 or 5 times now but never at Christmas. We will be visiting Dec 23-27 and we have two girls who will be 16 & 12. What are your suggestions to make this a special time during our short visit?

Hi Shannon!  The holiday season is one of the most magical times at Walt Disney World!!  The first thing you'll want to consider is to either bring or send some decorations for your room to make it more festive.  In the past, I have brought a small tree with decorations as well as our stockings.  I've also seen other guests bring colored string lights for their balconies.  If you are staying in a resort (such as the values) that have a window which is visible as you and other guests walk by, make sure you decorate that as well!

If it's in your budget, you might also want to consider the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package.  This is a very popular event which consists of a dinner of your choice (although availability may be very limited at this point), a guaranteed seat at the Candlelight Processional and a reserved spot for Illuminations.  Our family did this on Christmas Eve in 2009 and it was a very moving experience.

You'll also want to take some time to visit some of the resorts as the decorations are amazing!  Bring your camera for some great photo opportunities! A couple of my favorites are the Grand Floridian and the Beach Club.

As far as the parks, you can expect crowds to be heavy so start your day early as it's not unusual for the parks to reach capacity this time of year.  Bring your patience and take advantage of fast pass whenever possible.  Also be sure to watch the Christmas parade at Magic Kingdom - I just adore the toy soldiers!

I hope this gives you some ideas to get started.  Please let us know if you have follow-up questions!  Happy Holidays!  Diane
