we like to visit Disney World around the Holidays. Since I have been there on quite a few Christmas days I know that the parade is filmed a few weeks in advance. How can I find out how to participate in the Christmas Parade festivities. Disney Lovee EMS

Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to plan a vacation around the Christmas parade. The Christmas parade is often taped during the first weekend in December, but there is some variability to this. And even if you happen to be at Walt Disney World when the parade taping is scheduled, you might find your plans foiled because of the weather. I was at Walt Disney World at the time of the scheduled taping in 2009. There were terrible thunderstorms that weekend and nearly every aspect of the parade show was postponed.

That being said, if you are determined to participate in the parade, you can find out about the exact timing through one of the independent websites that cover Disney activities. (Disney itself does not actively promote information about the parade taping because of the possibility of guest disappointment due to weather issues or other unforeseen events.) My suggestion would be to follow the newsletters at stitchkingdom.com and allears.net. They will post announcements as soon as the parade dates are finalized. Be aware that you will likely have little notice. Official dates and tickets for the taping in 2010 were only made public in early November.

Even if you don't make it for the actual parade taping, there are still numerous holiday activities throughout the month of December. I'm sure they'll put you in a holiday mood.
