What's vegan at Tokyo Dining? I'm on the dining plan and wondering if the chef could make a vegan version of the bento box. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Alison,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I see you’ll be visiting Walt Disney World this fall, which is such a great time to visit. I love seeing the autumn décor in Magic Kingdom Park – the Mickey pumpkins are too cute! – and visiting the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is another favorite. I’m so excited for you!

I’ve heard rave reviews of the vegan seafood salad at Tokyo Dining, which comes with a sesame dressing. There are also vegan sushi rolls and edamame, and there may be other options available. While menus are subject to change, I recommend reaching out to the Disney Dining Cast Members to ask about vegan options at Tokyo Dining; they can be reached from the UK using freephone at 0800 16 90 749. Be sure to make a note on your reservation that you’re vegan, and you can work with your server when you arrive to see what might be possible. If you’d like a vegan bento box, I say definitely ask your server if they can make this happen. I understand that the tempura is not vegan because it’s made with an egg wash, but I also know Disney’s chefs can be very creative when it comes to vegans, vegetarians, and Guests with special food requests. Your server can also help you ensure that whatever you order is eligible on your Disney Dining Plan.

Alison, one of my favorite non-official sources for vegan dining news (including drool-worthy photos) is the Vegan Disney World blog. They post reviews and information about vegan options, and might be a nice resource as you count down to your trip. I’ve also heard great things about Erin McKenna’s Bakery in Disney Springs, which specializes in vegan treats.

Enjoy your time in Epcot’s Japan Pavilion! I highly recommend browsing the Mitsukoshi Department Store, which carries great Japanese merchandise and even has a unique pick-a-pearl experience. At the back of the store, there is a rotating exhibit about Japanese culture that is really neat to explore. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog, as Takumi-Tei Restaurant will be opening later this summer in the Japan Pavilion, and I can’t wait to learn more about menu options. Plus, as we get closer to the Epcot International Food & Wine festival, you can count on the Disney Parks Blog to share all the details about the event’s delicious options, demonstrations, and tours. Yum!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
