Want a value res- though the res agent said I would find them "shocking" after prior exp at the delux res. Is it a good strategy to stay a few nights at the value, then resort hop to dlx for a few? There will be 2 adults, 2 kids, + infant. Valu

A great way to find out if a value resort works for your family is to try it. The first time that we stayed at a WDW value resort, we booked a room at the All Star Movies for 3 nights. At the time, our son was obsessed with Herbie the Love Bug. Seeing him say good morning to that cute car made our stay memorable.

There are definite differences between a value and deluxe resort. First of all, the rooms are smaller. We travel with 2 adults and our only child (now 11) and the room works okay for us. We just checked out of Pop Century this morning so let me share with you some of the noticeable differences beyond the room's size.

The beds at Pop Century are doubles. Not only are they small but they seem less comfortable than the bedding at moderate and deluxe resorts.

One of the beds is close to the door leading to the exterior walkway. We had significantly less room for our luggage. There is only one sink and the closet is exposed. The tub/toilet area was a bit larger than a bathroom at the moderate Port Orleans Riverside's Bayou section.

The room lacks a desk and refrigerator. You'll receive plastic cups instead of glasses. Room amenities include shampoo/conditioner in one bottle and some small bar soap. There is no room service except for pizza delivery. The value resorts lack table service restaurants. The food courts seem much more hectic during prime dining hours.

The best part of a value resort is the lower cost.

It is an excellent idea to start at a value resort and then transfer to a moderate or deluxe. If you are truly concerned, book the value resort just for your arrival night!
