We our vacationing from 10/29-11/5 and have the dining plan. Our son is 9, so I understand that he should be ordering from kids menus for table service meals. If he prefers something from the regular menu, can he do that and we just pay the difference?

To my knowledge, Kathianne, there isn't really a "pay the difference" option when it comes to dining plan credits.  Because of his age, your son's only covered option is to order a meal from the children's menu.  During our recent trip, we found that many restaurants offered menu items beyond the typical nuggets and burgers.  Each restaurant's kids menu had a section called "Chef's Selection" (or something really close to that!), that offered entrees like fish, steak, or chicken.  Mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables were widely available as well.  If he has his heart set on a particular entree from the regular menu, perhaps an adult in the party would be willing to share a small portion that would compliment his selection off the kids menu.  And if not, of course you always have the option of paying out of pocket for an extra entree.  I hope that helps!
